After had been a while since my last posting about the field instrument, this time i would like to present another kind of instrument that is rarely used in flow measurement.
Yap, it is Vortex Shedding Meter.
As it is named, Vortex shedding meter is flowmeter that uses vortices of flow after passing through the shedding bar. While in the downstream side, the instrument will measure the produced frequency which is linear with the velocity of the fluid. With the cross sectional of the pipe, it will give the volume rate of the fluid.
One of the Consideration to select vortex shedding meter is its high turn down ratio. Unlike the orifice that has turndown ratio in 1:3 – 1:5, Vortex has turndown ratio 1:10
